Specifically, he is interested in developing visual geometry to understand and interact with the local environment, enabling safer and better autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots. This also has benefits for augmented and mixed reality applications. He is a firm believer that the development of smarter vision systems will improve the quality of human life.
